Full Height Shutters on Bedroom Bay Windows: Our Recent Projects
A bay window is often the nicest feature of a bedroom, and the hardest one to dress. Curtains bunch up in the angles and a blind on each pane rarely lines up. Full height shutters solve both problems: each section of the bay gets its own frame, and the panels line up across the whole bay so it looks like one piece.
What you can see in these photos
Every set here is white full height plantation shutters, made to measure for a bedroom bay in North London. Some bays are three-sided, some are wider with longer centre panes, and one is a large bay that needed extra panels across the front. In each case the shutters are measured section by section, so the louvres stay level all the way round.
Why full height works in a bedroom bay
- Privacy at night: close the louvres and the whole bay is covered from top to bottom.
- Light in the morning: tilt the louvres a little to let light in without opening up the room to the street.
- A darker room: if you want a properly dark bedroom, a blackout blind can sit behind the shutters.
If you would like to open just the top half for light and keep the bottom closed, have a look at tier-on-tier shutters as well. You can see more bay projects on our bay window shutters page and in bedroom shutters.
