Shutters for Curved Bay Windows: Photos From Our Projects
Curved bays are less common than square or splayed bays, and they are the windows people most often think cannot have shutters. They can. The trick is to treat the curve as a series of narrow, flat sections, each with its own panel, so the shutters follow the line of the window.
What you can see in these photos
The first four photos show white full height shutters on a curved bay in a bedroom. You can also see a curved bay in a living room with full height panels, and three curved bays with tier-on-tier shutters, where the top and bottom panels open on their own.
Things we check on a curved bay
- How many sections: narrower panels follow the curve more closely.
- Window handles and sills: the panels need room to fold back without catching.
- Full height or tier-on-tier: tier-on-tier gives you light at the top with privacy below, which suits a street-facing curved bay.
We measure every curved bay at your home rather than from photos, because the angles change from window to window. See our bay window shutters page for more.
