How Tier-on-Tier Shutters Work: Open, Closed and Top Open
People often ask us what tier-on-tier shutters actually look like day to day. These photos answer that better than words: the same style of shutter, set up in different ways.
The three main settings
- Louvres closed: both tiers shut with the louvres turned closed, for privacy and a darker room in the evening.
- Top open: the top panels folded back against the window recess, with the bottom panels closed. This is the setting most customers use during the day.
- Fully open: all the panels folded back so the whole window is clear, for cleaning or on bright days.
On top of that you can tilt the louvres on each tier separately, so there are lots of combinations in between.
Where they are fitted
These photos come from bay windows in bedrooms and living rooms, where tier-on-tier is especially useful. Read more on our tier-on-tier shutters page.
