Here’s how our process works, how long it takes, and when to book if you’d like your shutters up before Christmas.
How long do made-to-measure shutters take?
Every set of our shutters is made to measure in Britain, to the exact sizes we take at your home. Our typical lead time is 3–4 weeks from placing your order to fitting day. Here’s what happens along the way:
- Free home visit. We come to you, measure your windows and bring real samples of colours and louvre sizes, so you can see them in your own light.
- Written quote. You get a clear quote based on the size of your windows, with no obligation.
- Order and making. Once you’re happy, your shutters are made to your measurements and painted in your chosen colour.
- Fitting. Our own team fits your shutters and shows you how to use them.
When should I book for Christmas?
Christmas Day falls on Friday 25 December this year. With a typical 3–4 week lead time, the sooner you book your free home visit in November, the better your chance of having shutters fitted before Christmas. As a rule of thumb, aim to place your order by the end of November. Orders placed later can still go ahead, of course – they may just be fitted after Christmas.

Which shutters are best for winter?
- Tier-on-tier shutters – open the top panels for daylight and keep the bottom closed for privacy from the street. Ideal for front bay windows.
- Full height shutters – one set of panels covering the whole window, simple to use and neat whether open or closed. A great choice for bedrooms and guest rooms.
- Café style shutters – cover just the lower part of the window, for privacy at street level while the light still pours in.
On dark winter evenings, closing your shutters gives you privacy when the lights are on, and helps the room feel warm and cosy.
